The 4 Training Groups of NJRC
Every member swimmer of NJRC is expected to attend atleast 90% of their practice group schedule. The success of NJRC and the success of our swimmers to reach maximum potential depends on our 90% attendance policy!
Novice Training Group- (10 & Unders) Practice expectations-two day a week program for the swimmer ages 10 and under. Instruction will emphasize the four competitive strokes along with starts and turns. Goal is to establish a smooth tansition into the competetive environment of the junior group. Drills/Drills/Drills.
Junior Training Group- swimmers will continue to work on stroke technique with more of a focus on training then the novice group. Swimmers in the junior group must commit to training 3 days a week. The most important thing in this group is to get each swimmer to reach a level of self confidence that will ensure personal success.
Junior Elite Training Group- swimmers must have atleast 4 silver times to swim in the junior elite group. Swimmer must commit to training 4 days a week for atleast 1 hour and 30 minutes a day. Installing the "independent swimmer" within each swimmer. Each swimmer in this group is taught self discipline, self motivation and self respect. This group prides itself on allowing the swimmer to make decisions (not their parents) that is conducive to their personal success.
Senior B Training Group- swimmers should have one gold time to swim in the senior B training group. Swimmers must commit to training 5 days a week for up to 2 hours per day building on their commitment and self motivation with clear goals and a determination to reach them. This group will engage in a significant dry land training program to compliment the pool training.
Senior A Training Group- Swimmers must commit to training 6 days (or more) a week for 2 hours (or more) a day with additional morning practices before school. Swimmers that swim High School cannot miss more then 1 practice a week due to High School meets. The senior group places a emphasis on the rewards of discipline, determination, dreams and believing in oneself. A 90% attendance record is required to be able to attend NJRC swim meets. Attendance does not include morning practices. New swimmers to the senior group will have their own attendance guidlines set by their head coach on a swimmer by swimmer basis.
*Each training group has specific attendance requirements appropriate for the objectives of that group. As a general rule, the least possible interruption in the training schedule will produce the greatest amount of success.
*Plan to stay the entire practice. The last part of practice is very often the most important. Usually, there are also announcements made at the end of each practice.
